The relaxation and meditation classes and courses offered by Yoga Road are informed by the technique of Integrative Restoration, or iRest® yoga.  It is a modern-day secular adaption of an ancient meditative yoga practice.

You can do meditation in any position you feel comfortable; lying down, sitting, standing or even walking. The facilitator gently talks you through your session, and you don’t have to clear your mind of thoughts (although that might happen naturally after a while  ).  A course with a well qualified teacher is a great way of learning how to meditate for yourself, when you need it.  It can bring you home to yourself.

This form of meditation is based on gentle self-inquiry that research shows effectively reduces anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, chemical dependency depression and PTSD…however meditation is really for everyone.  I have found it is a very gentle way of addressing unhelpful thoughts and turning my compass back to it’s true bearing. The technique was developed by Dr Richard Miller, researcher, clinical psychologist and yogic scholar who combined traditional yogic practice with Western psychology and neuroscience.

Meditation can be taught in group classes and on a one-to-one basis.  If you wish to know more about this really wonderful practice, contact Sue.
